The Q.E.A
name is throughout the whole of Egypt and
this is not just the historic sites. One of the biggest sites
is the huge mainly uninhabited land mass of the Western Sahara
lying on the borders of Sudan and Libya
with its variety of mind blowing scenery that is well and truly
at the top of the spectacular scale.
To see the desert at its best we have devised a Q.E.A
Desert Adventure which allows you to experience
this huge land mass in all its glory from a variety of angles
with Camel, 4x4 excursions and camping experiences at a variety
of locations.
Join the real sands of time and
get away from it all by joining the great desert adventure

The
Itinerary
|
Day
1 -
Luxor
is your first destination and also
Q.E.A's
Headquarters.
The City of Luxor is crammed full
of ancient temples and monuments
built upon a huge scale that can
only be marvelled at in amazement.
The River Nile runs directly
through the centre and splits Luxor
into an East and West bank society.
On the West bank the mountains are
lined with tombs & temples galore
that are filled to the brim with
ancient treasures. The trip departs
from here ...... |
 |
|
|
|
Kharga
is the second stop of the adventure. It houses some of the
best archaeological remains in the Western Sahara including
the Temple of Hibis which was dedicated to the Theban triad
of Amun, Mut and Khonsu.
There is also a fascinating ancient Christian burial ground
which contains several intricately designed mud brick tombs
dating from the 4th century.
Along the way a picnic lunch and refreshments will be enjoyed
by all in the peace and tranquility that is the desert. |
|
|
Dakhla
Oasis awaits with the fabulous Bedouin Camp, with its hot
spring bath for you to unwind in after the journey.
Option 1 -
stay at the Bedouin camp and enjoy a traditional
Egyptian meal will have been prepared and eating this can
be conducted in the true Bedouin style around low lying
tables and cushions surrounding the table.
Once everyone's eating desires have been fulfilled, feel
free to sit around the open fire outside and chill with
stars looking down or hit the sack for the night.
Option 2-
Leave the camp by camel and after a short journey through
the desert you will arrive at the nights camping spot, be
prepared for some wonderful traditionally cooked food and
entertainment while sitting around tonights camp fire, then
it's off to sleep under the amazing blanket of stars.
|
 |
|
|
Day
2-
Arise for an early breakfast
consisting of omelettes with cheese and traditional Bedouin
bread to fill the gap until lunch time. A chance to shower
and refresh before the days adventures begin.
Ahead is the ancient Islamic town of Al-Qasr with its complex
mud brick narrow streets and fascinating courtyards. (Al-Qasr
dates back to the early 10th century). Here you'll have
the opportunity to walk the town maze and visit the museum.
Once out of the mud brick maze the trip goes back onto the
road through the desert where small towns are arising in
the middle of desolate desert. This is due to locals reviving
it with bore holes leading to underground lakes; hence farmland
and small towns are springing up in these most hostile surroundings.
The
camp is then left for the drive through
the desert named the Sea of Sand which is completely
flat and goes on as far as the eye can
see.
|
|
Farafra
Oasis is where the adventure reaches a massive peak. Supplies
are collected from Farafra for the night ahead in the White
Desert which is situated just outside Farafra. The drive to
the White Desert is amazing but only a taster until you get
into the next 4x4 enabling the adventure to go deep inside
the desert.
Here you'll witness blinding white against the sand and some
surreal rock formations from all the best lookout points where
the scenery is truly and wildly amazing.
The trip will then take you to a good
position within the desert where the night's
camp can be constructed.
Lounging around a blazing fire, eating a satisfying meal,
then settling down for a tranquil nights sleep beneath the
blanket of dazzling stars will make this an unforgettable
experience. |
 |
|
|
Day
3-
As the sun rises over an icy
looking desert, the aroma of coffee & omelettes will rouse
you. Now all the all the aspects of the White Desert have
been enjoyed so we move on towards the Oasis of Bahariyya.
The changing colour of the desert from White Sand to Black
Sand means the next destination is imminent. |
|
|
Before
we arrive at Bahariyya we
climb into the 4x4 and out in the Black Desert.
The charred looking landscape shows the desert as the hostile
place it really is. There are many high lookout points for
the perfect photo opportunity these are visited including
a British Military lookout point deep within the mountains
dating from the 1st world war.
The temple where Alexandra the Great had left his name and
a few other small temples can be visited within the villages
and mountains.and
you have the choice of options...
Option
1 - - Stay at
the New Oasis Camp
where a traditional Egyptian Meal can
be enjoyed. Everyones belongings are
collected from the rooms and it's back
on the adventure trail.
Option 2
- Camp out at Crystal Mountain, a truely magnificent mountian
that shimmers in the sunlight and is a place of peace and
tranquillity, with traditional food and entertainment.

Day
4-
After an early breakfast there
is chance to really have some fun or just chill in the dunes.
If you want to bask in the sunshine other than being in the
4x4 in the dunes, now is your chance. Or maybe choose to stay
in the 4x4 and spend a few hours truly getting to know the
dunes with your experienced off road driver. The ups and downs
of the dunes will be shown at their best.
We will then leave the dunes to have a morning bath, not in
a tub but in a hot spring pumped from deep beneath the surface
to cleanse and refresh you. |
| |
Camel
trekking then is now top of our agenda. A two hour ride will
take us through the mountainous part of the dunes treading
the paths of the ancients towards the evening's camp. Once
at the camp all to be done is relax and wait for food to be
served which is followed by traditional Egyptian Live Music.
The music will go on for as long as you wish as you gaze across
the cold open desert being kept warm by the fire and the memories
of the adventure you have been on, as you fall asleep beneath
the twinkling stars with the pharaohs watching over you from
above.
