Inside The Temple of Horus

Edfu - The Temple of Horus

Located south of the temple of Khnum at Esna is one of the most splendid temples of all that is located alongside the River Nile.

Edfu Temple - The Temple of Horus. Built over centuries by the Greco-Romans long after the true era of Pharaohs had passed. It gives a clear idea of what a fully completed temple would have looked like.

The temple was completely buried in sand up until the 1860's when excavation began this to reveal spectacular temple with its many Chambers, Colonnades and beautifully preserved entrance Pylon.

Overall it is similar to the Pyramids and Great Sphinx in terms of being an absolute gem. It is definitely most appreciated for its preservation and architectural ingenuity.
