Kom Ombo Temple- Copyright of Michael Sutor (c)

The sands of Egypt have completely eroded the original city of Pa-Sobek and all that remains of this once rich, elegant and vibrant city is a post Pharonic Temple which was finished by the Romans to pay homage to the two great gods of Ancient Egypt.
Sobek the Crocodile god and Horus the winged Falcon.
However the crocodiles that would have been reared and worshiped here have been hunted to extinction and all that remains is similar to Esna and that is the Hypostyle Hall with its eight Lotus flower capital columns supporting the roof with some splendid relief's left to gaze at and admire.
The River Nile runs right past this temple and a boat trip past the temple is a fantastic way to take it all in.

Well preserved engravings on the Temple- Copyright of Michael Sutor (c)
