A Boat Trip around the Temple - Copyright of Michael Sutor (c)

Philae Island has to be one of the most romantic sites in Egypt. Set upon Aglika Island now due to the construction of Aswan Dam. (The original Philae Island is now submerged beneath waters like the sands of time engulfs the temples).
Philae has now been relocated to this island. The entire temple complex which is dedicated to Isis is approached by boat only. The site was in operation until 550 B.C when Christianity took hold and the paganism religion died out.

This site may be beautiful but a strange feeling of numbness is felt unlike in the other sites of Egypt. The temple has definItely lost its soul but if you try to imagine it as it was then a glimpse of an age old religion will be felt.
